For Roux solvers ── from a Roux solver

Solve the cube.
The Roux way.

Roux method guides, written one sub-step at a time as I learn them.

These are the learning and drilling tools I'm building for myself as I work through Roux — guides, alg catalogs and drills. Public in case any of it helps someone else on the same path.

The full method, broken down.

Roux solves the cube in four steps: First Block (FB), Second Block (SB), CMLL, then LSE. Each step has several approaches at different skill levels — pick the tier below that matches yours.

Show:
FB

First Block

End state

Build the 1x2x3 block on the left (DL edge + DLF/DLB pair).

  • Intuitive FB
    Beginner

Build the left down 1x2x3 block using blockbuilding.

  • FB + DR
    Advanced

Predict FB and DR during inspection.

SB

Second Block

End state

Build the right 1x2x3 block on the opposite side from FB.

CMLL

CMLL

End state

Orient and permute the U-layer corners.

  • 2-look CMLL
    Beginner

Orient corners, then permute them with 9 algs total.

  • 1-look CMLL
    Intermediate

Orient and permute corners at the same time. Full 42-case alg set.

  • Advanced CMLL recognition
    Advanced

Read any case from 2–4 stickers and from any AUF without rotating the cube.

  • CMLL EO influencing
    Advanced

Select between different CMLL algorithms to influence EO case.

LSE

LSE

End state

Last Six Edges — orient, then permute using ⟨M, U⟩.

  • EO (4a)
    Beginner

    Orient the 6 LSE edges.

  • UL/UR placement (4b)
    Beginner

Place UL/UR edges to their correct positions.

  • L4E 4c
    Beginner

Finish solving last 4 remaining edges in M slice.

  • DFDB recognition
    Intermediate

Track DF/DB during 4b to predict the 4c cycle solution.

  • EOLR arrow cases
    Intermediate

Solve arrow case EO and place UL/UR edges at the bottom at the same time.

  • EOLR (full set)
    Advanced

Solve EO and place UL/UR edges at the bottom at the same time.
