L4E — Last Four Edges

Solve the remaining 4 edges in M slice.

  • L4E is solved using M and U2 only (with one exception).

The 3-cycle

When learning L4E it’s recommended to first use M2 to get U center to the U layer for easier recognition. As you get more used to L4E, you can solve directly even when the U center is in D layer.

If one of four edges is already solved, it is a 3-cycle case. One edge will have both stickers not matching adjacent centers. There are four unique cases based on which slot this edge is in — U or D layer, front or back. All four have mirrored versions (swap every MM') that are omitted from the guide.

1. Non-matching edge in U layer (front)

Solution U2 M U2 M'

2. Non-matching edge in D layer (front)

Solution M' U2 M U2

3. Non-matching edge in U layer (back)

Solution M U2 M U2 M2

4. Non-matching edge in D layer (back)

Solution M2 U2 M U2 M

Non-cycle cases

1.

Solution U2 M2 U2 M2

2.

Solution M' U2 M2 U2 M'

3.

Solution M E2 M E2

This case is the exception from the M, U2 moveset. Alternative solution is U2 M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2, but it is slower than the recommended solution.
